Zinnia

Zinnia was found abandonned with her mother and brothers in Albany. Zinnia is a sweet, clean bunny who gets along well with others. She can be adopted as a single bunny or as a friend for another bunny. Zinnia is a large bunny, she is about 8 pounds and will need an enclosure rather than a cage in her adoptive home. She has been spayed and is ready for adoption.

Thyme

Thyme is a cute bunny who is working on becoming sociable. She came into foster care from running loose in a small city. She has had a problem with cage aggression and therefore should not be placed in a cage again. Since coming into fostercare she has moved into an enclosure with other bunnies and been spayed. She is becoming a very nice bunny and is ready for adoption to a home that understands her needs.

Black Swan

Black Swan came into care as part of a group of rabbits taken from a horrible neglect/cruelty case in Ulster County. See the link on our front page. Black Swan received no care, no socialization, no exercise and as a result was traumatized. She is gradually learning to trust people and has responded well to her foster dad and being in an exercise pen, but she dislikes being in a cage and needs to be adopted by someone experienced and patient who will continue to work with her therapeutically. She would do best in a home without children.

Elena

Elena was rescued as a baby in the summer 2010 with her five sisters from a backyard neglect situation. This bun loves to have humans around; when we enter the room where she is housed, she greets us standing up with her face all lit up. Elena is very rambunctious and active all the time. She truly loves her daily out-of-cage time, hopping around, jumping, digging at the newspapers and tossing toys around. Although she does not enjoy being picked up and held, she enjoys being petted while sitting next to us. Loves hay and greens. She has been spayed. Recommended for those who have experience with house rabbits.

Amelia

Amelia was rescued as a baby in the summer 2010 with her five sisters from a backyard neglect situation. She is very calm, gentle, and love people’s attention. Her face lights up when we approach her habitat; she stands up inviting us to say “Hi” and pet her nose. She truly loves her daily out-of-cage time, hopping around and tossing toys around. Although she does not enjoy being picked up and held, she enjoys being petted while sitting next to us. If you’re looking for a friend for a bunny you already have, she would be a good candidate as she is very easygoing. A great hay eater who also loves greens. She has been spayed. Not recommended for a home with children.

Agapanthus

This is the cleanest bunny of them all. Her greatest interest is in washing her beautiful pink/white ears. She will wash and wash and there isn't anything sweeter than seeing one war pulled down and the other standing straight up while her paws manipulate. After this is a thorough face washing followed by full coat bath, only to start again. This bun also loves her human time, especially gentle brushing, it's included in making her more and more lovely. This rabbit's parents are Buttercup and Hemlock.

Buttercup

Buttercup is a young adult female who has had the experience of motherhood. She has had 6 babies 5 of whom are also in foster care. She has an orange cast to her fur. That may be staining. She may be an all white bunny but we don't know yet. Buttercup has just come into foster care. She enjoyed being wrapped in a warm towel and cleanned up so there is a strong indication that she will make a fine pet. She is very vocal and can be heard from across the room. She will be spayed on February 2nd and will be ready for adoption on the President's Day weekend.

Susie Q

I was one of 26 rabbits seized by the Ulster County SPCA from a home with a history of animal cruelty. You can read all about our dramatic rescue in the shelter's newsletter:

http://www.ucspca.org/html/newsletter.html

I was the youngest bunny in the bunch, and I'm still a baby. My mother, father, and sister all got adopted and I'm hoping that I will follow in their pawprints. That's me, a shiny black satin mix, pictured in the crate next to my mother (a CA mix). I'm very healthy, frisky, and lovable. My foster Mom says I learned my good litterbox manners within a few hours, and that I snuggle into the crook of her arm and fall asleep while she reads. I have a robust appetite and amuse myself by tossing my bunny toys.

Gabrielle's Babies

During Gabrielle's rescue she unexpectedly gave birth to 3 live babies. Mama is a very sweet, calm bun and needs to finish raising her family, and then she will be spayed and they will be ready for adoption singly or in pairs. Babies can be adopted at 8 weeks, at which time we’ll have a better idea of whether they are boys or girls. 2 are English spot mixes and one is a grey ? Rex. These 4 will have a chance at a good life, proper care, and safety!

SANDY AND SONJA

Sonja & Sandy are spayed females - Sandy is an agouti color and Sonja is white. These girls are active and playful and enjoy chasing each other about during their exercise time. Sonja is the first to check out new surroundings while Sandy is more cautious but also very curious. During their down time they can usually be found stretched out together and grooming each other. Both like to be petted and can be held. Sonja seems to find comfort in nestling under your chin.

Azalea

Azalea is the all black CNY abandonment case bunny. She is doing very well and is inquisitive. She was part of a large group that was cruelly abandoned to die from heat and predators in a remote area of CNY. Some of the babies were barely weeks old. Despite daily efforts by our group of rescuers, some rabbits initially spotted in the dense vegetation were ultimately never able to be found and caught, and perished miserably. All that would have taken to avoid this situation would have been for the person dumping them to think about their welfare for one second and taken them to a shelter.

RiverSong

RiverSong was rescued as a baby in the summer 2010 with her five sisters from a backyard neglect situation. She was one of the smallest, weighing less than a pound at the time of rescue. And she ate, ate, and ate . . . and is now a healthy, friendly, high-spirited young girl. She is energetic and very expressive when she is happy. And what makes RiverSong happy? Your attention and a large space to hop around in. She jumps and twists in the air jerking her head when she sees us, and she does so even more vigorously when we actually enter her pen. As with all house rabbits, she would be miserable if she were caged all day. She does not enjoy being picked up and held, but loves to be petted while lying on the floor; tolerates a few minutes of lap time. She is quite a decorator and often rearranging her “furniture” in her living space. She has a beautiful velvety coat and short wavy whiskers, the unique characteristics of a rex rabbit. She has been spayed. Not recommended for a home with children.

STAR

Star is very affectionate and loves to get your attention. she may hop up on the couch next to you for a pet or steal your snack and run away. Whatever your doing she'll want to do it too! On Sundays she chews up the ads while we read the paper. When my daughter is playing barbies or legos Star will get right in the middle and start tossing toys.Star is a very active rabbit and likes to be out twice a day to burn off extra energy. her antics are quite comical as she hops, high kicks and spastically runs around. 15 minutes of exercise does a lot to keep her happy and lots of toys are a must.

Miss Abbey

Miss Abbey is a very typical bunny. It takes a little while before she will come out of her shell. But once she does, you'll forget all about what a shy bun she once was! Miss Abbey has been in several foster homes and has decided that the single life is the life for her. She would prefer to go to a home where she would be the only bunny. She does not seem to mind children or dogs, though she doesn't seem to tolerate cats. Her favorite treats are carrot and blueberries, but she is a chubby bunny and she needs to mind her sweets. To help control her weight she will need to be fed a limited amount of timothy-based pellet. Miss Abbey is a Special Needs Rabbit.

If you or someone you know can provide this adorable couple with their forever home, please contact Davida.   Please be sure you have sent our adoption application to Davida before contacting us.
