Every rabbit deserves a safe home

Domestic rabbits depend entirely on the people who care for them. Unlike their wild cousins, they are not equipped to survive on their own. Releasing a pet rabbit outdoors or leaving them without proper protection puts them at great risk of hunger, illness, injury, predators, and extreme weather. While many of us grew up seeing rabbits kept in outdoor hutches, our understanding of rabbit care has grown tremendously over the years. Thanks to ongoing research, education, and advocacy, we now know much more about what rabbits need to live safe, healthy, and happy lives.

If you find yourself unable to care for your rabbit, please know that you are not alone and there is help available. Reach out before you feel that abandoning your rabbit is your only option. Releasing a domestic rabbit in a park or other outdoor area is not only illegal, but it almost always leads to unnecessary suffering. Instead, make a plan that puts your rabbit's well-being first by contacting a rabbit rescue, shelter, or other trusted resource. Every compassionate choice makes a difference. By asking for help, learning more, and encouraging others to do the same, you become part of a growing community committed to giving every rabbit the care and kindness they deserve.
We're here to help!
