Unfortunately, many veterinarians have received minimal training in the care of rabbits. Treatments that are appropriate for dogs and cats can be injurious, even fatal, to a rabbit. For example, oral amoxicillin has killed pet rabbits who were treated by ill-informed vets. While they may be well intentioned, you should not assume that all vets will give proper care to your bunny. It's important to make certain your veterinarian is knowledgeable about the care of rabbits.
